Job summary

A professional services firm is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their Finance Business Partner Team. This position involves providing financial management support, delivering accurate financial reporting, and advising on financial performance improvement. The role requires NVQ Level 4 and AAT membership or CCAB qualification, and experience in financial reporting. This is a 6-month contract, mostly remote with occasional onsite meetings.

Management Accountant (High Needs and Education) – Finance Business Partner Team

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6 Months Initially

Rate: £300 p/d (Inside IR35)

Working Arrangement: Mostly remote (occasional onsite)

We are currently working with an East Midlands based Local Authority, who are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support their Strategic Finance Team with High Needs (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) and Education Finance issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide financial management support and strategic business advice to service departments.
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, planning, and analysis.
• Support the development of management reports linking financials to operational outcomes.
• Advise on financial options to improve short- and long-term performance.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
• Contribute to year-end closure of accounts and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• NVQ Level 4 and AAT membership (Grade 11) or CCAB qualification (Grade 12).
• Experience in financial reporting, ERP systems (preferably Oracle), and project involvement.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of financial legislation, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and customer-focused service delivery.
