Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is:

Monday - Thursday, 08:00-16:00 and Friday 08:00-15:30 plus On-Call Requirement.

An exciting opportunity has become available for motivated and skilled Maintenance Technician’s with an electrical engineering background within the Estates Department, Vale of Leven Hospital.

You will be based at Vale of Leven Hospital and will be required to work on all sites and properties within the remit of department as routinely required.

The department role is to provide a safe, effective and efficient estates service to support clinical and administration activities within Healthcare and Acute Hospital Facilities.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing planned and breakdown maintenance and repair services in relation to all aspects of engineering and building services, plant and equipment.

You will be required to have completed a recognized and registered apprenticeship in an Electrical Core Trade with post apprenticeship experience in Electrical Engineering equivalent to SVQ Level 4 Higher National Diploma, Modern Apprenticeship – Level 4, Professional Development Awards (SCQF – 8-9).

You should have a proven track record that demonstrates your practical core skills and application within your trade. In addition to your core trade, it is expected that you will undertake work of other disciplines for which training will be provided as necessary.

You will be in possession of:
  • Electrical HNC, B/Tech or City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Craft qualification or equal and approved.
  • A current full UK Drivers Licence for category 'B' class vehicle is essential.
  • Participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota to meet the needs and requirements of the service is required.

On occasion you will be required to work unscheduled overtime or unsocial hours to undertake and or complete emergency repairs to ensure continuity of service.
