Job Purpose

As a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician at our Deeside manufacturing site, you’ll play a key role in keeping production running safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption. You'll work across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems—solving problems, improving reliability, and supporting site-wide maintenance initiatives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver both planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a wide range of process and plant equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Conduct routine electrical testing, inspections, and repairs in line with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to install, upgrade, and commission new equipment and modifications.
  • Assist in fault finding and root cause analysis, implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in reliability, uptime and plant efficiency.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, risk assessments, and equipment criticality evaluations.
  • Support external contractors and supplier partners to ensure safe and effective execution of technical work.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with AkzoNobel’s health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
What We’re Looking For
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship and minimum NVQ Level 3 or HNC in an Engineering discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience with both electrical and mechanical systems in a manufacturing or process environment.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification and ideally CompEx EX01–06 qualified.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area safety, preferably from a chemical or coatings production environment.
  • Trained in electrical inspection processes.
