Job summary

A leading facilities management company is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support fabric maintenance at various locations along the Elizabeth Line. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in facilities management and various maintenance skills. This is a full-time position that involves working Monday to Friday with on-call responsibilities. Overtime opportunities are available.

  • Experience as a Fabric/Maintenance engineer in facilities/building maintenance.
  • Excellent understanding of Reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • IT Literate - Basic understanding of Microsoft products.

  • Ensure all delegated Reactive Works orders and PPMs are completed within SLAs & KPIs.
  • Plan, inspect, and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance.
  • Contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the contract.

About The Role:

Full UK Driving License required.

Purpose of the role: To deliver a mix of reactive and planned preventative fabric maintenance, to the Elizabeth Line stations, across west London (Reading - Paddington). This is a client‑facing role with excellent opportunities for training and career progression.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all delegated Reactive Works orders and PPMs are completed within the contract‑defined time SLAs & KPIs. Duties to include building fabric repairs, small plumbing works, and joinery.
  • Plan, inspect and carry out repairs or preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns in a timely fashion.
  • Assist the wider maintenance team as required with any other facilities work.
  • Ensure that a safe system of work is followed prior to the commencement of the work activity.
  • Source materials, as required.
  • Contribute to overall efficiency and effectiveness of the contract, ensuring the overall delivery of service.
  • Ensure that sites are kept to the highest standards, to ensure all works are completed, to provide general handyperson services including L8.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, cleaners and security to ensure the facilities management of site is carried out effectively.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and uphold site standards.
  • Support with the implementation of an integrated approach for the delivery of all contracted services ensuring that all works are delivered safely on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Provide a callout response for the client as detailed on the callout rota, on average 1 in 4 weeks.
Essential Hiring Criteria:
  • Experience Fabric / Maintenance engineer with a facilities/building maintenance background.
  • Excellent understanding of Reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance.
  • Experience/proven skills in Carpentry, Plumbing, Painting & Decorating, Door Hanging, Carpet/Lino repairs, Glazing Repairs, Masonry Repairs, Locksmiths, Tiling, and ceiling grids/tiles.
  • Sound knowledge of understanding and developing safety documentation to ensure site safety procedures are always followed.
  • Legionella Awareness (desirable).
  • Must have a current, valid driving licence.
  • IT Literate - Basic understanding of Microsoft products.
Work Pattern:
  • Monday‑Friday, 08:00‑17:00
  • 40 hours per week
  • Multi‑site location on the Elizabeth Line (Paddington to Reading)
  • On call rota (1 in 4) with enhanced rates of pay
  • Overtime available
