Job description
Overview

West Midlands Metro is recruiting a Maintenance Technician to support a safe and reliable tram service, performing maintenance, repair, and overhaul on rolling stock assets.

Location: Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0AR

Salary: £36,501 to £41,153 per annum, increasing following the successful completion of the probation period and merits.

Contract: Full time, Permanent, 12-hour shifts – 4 on, 4 off. Overtime is available.

Responsibilities
  • Performing preventative scheduled maintenance on the trams, working on systems incorporating mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Performing corrective maintenance on the trams, including troubleshooting, fault finding, and diagnosis using computer equipment and on-tram diagnostics systems, followed by repairs as appropriate.
  • Supporting the testing, commissioning, and acceptance of new trams.
  • Recording all work activities, including all preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Accurately reporting and recording details of fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Supporting Rolling Stock Engineering Management in delivering the production plan, ensuring exam tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Actively participating in ongoing continuous improvement activities.
Essential qualifications
  • Experience in undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance on high-value safety-critical equipment.
  • Experience in finding and diagnosing faults in complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in the use of computer-based diagnostic equipment.
Desirable qualifications
  • Mechanical and Electrical ONC or a time-served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Engineering-based NVQ level 3.
