Job description

Neway International are looking for a Maintenance Surveyor to join our client based with the Royal Borough of Kingston.

This role is based at Guildhall 2, with a 36‑hour working week and standard hours of 09:00–17:00.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out building maintenance inspections across the council’s property portfolio.
  • Identify defects, maintenance requirements and compliance issues, ensuring timely reporting and follow‑up.
  • Prepare schedules of work, specifications and cost estimates for repairs and planned maintenance.
  • Oversee contractors on site, ensuring safe working practices and adherence to council standards.
  • Support the delivery of statutory compliance activities, including fire safety, water hygiene and general building safety.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues and provide technical advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation in line with council procedures.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in building maintenance surveying or a similar property/technical role.
  • Strong understanding of building fabric, maintenance processes and statutory compliance.
  • Ability to assess defects, specify remedial works and manage contractors effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Competent IT skills and experience using property or asset management systems.

Hours: 36 per week

Location: Guildhall 2, Royal Borough of Kingston

Rate: £26.74 PAYE / £34.94 Umbrella
