Overview

The key function is to support NHS Property Services in delivering building services maintenance and repairs across the NHS to ensure buildings are maintained to the highest standards and to provide a safe and secure environment for visitors, customers, and employees.

Job responsibilities

We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Operative- Plumbing. This will be to join our team based in Blackburn - Park Lee - Loan Store. The starting salary for this role is from £29,000 (depending on experience) plus on call allowance. This is a permanent, full time position working 37.5 hours per week. Monday-Friday 8am-4.30pm. This is a mobile role covering Blackburn.

  • Deliver Scheduled, Reactive and Remedial maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner (CAFM), helpdesk or Technical Services Supervisor, ensuring that operational standards are always maintained.
  • Undertake routine repairs or minor works including joinery, painting and decoration, general building works, ground works or general plumbing.
  • Complete suitable risk assessments prior to undertaking works and undertake works as per instructions within any relevant permit or work plan.
  • Support the Projects/Construction team and Team Leader in delivering minor capital works to NHS premises.
  • Maintain effective site log books at all NHS premises where required, ensuring that they are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Be comfortable using technological devices to log jobs and be on-call as required.
  • Work alone and/or as part of a wider team, collaborating with other Technical Disciplines.
  • Drive with a valid licence where required and adhere to safe working practices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance in accordance with NHSPS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Policies, relevant NHSPS Technical Guidance, Process and Procedures, Statutory Regulations, Approved Codes of Practice and any applicable aspects of HTMs.
  • Provide maintenance services as directed by the PPM planner/CAFM and helpdesk, maintaining operational standards.
  • Undertake routine repairs or minor works as described above.
  • Maintain site log books at NHS premises where required, completed timely and accurately.
  • Support minor capital works to NHS premises with Projects/Construction team and Team Leader.
  • Complete risk assessments prior to works and comply with permits or work plans.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Qualifications - At least one of the following:
  • NVQ Level 2 or higher BTEC/City & Guilds or equivalent in Plumbing & Heating
  • Formal apprenticeship or craft trained equivalent
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Driving licence is essential
  • Comfortable using technological devices to log jobs
  • On-Call availability
  • Desirable to have industry experience
  • Ability to work alone and/or as part of a wider team
  • Disclosures: DBS checks may be required; DVLA checks will be required for this role.
