Ince Church of England Primary and Nursery School is a large two form entry Primary school in the heart of Ince.

We are looking to appoint a Maintenance Officer to join our team.

Are you practical, proactive and a highly organised individual with a passion for creating a welcoming, safe and well‑maintained environment for our children, staff, parents and visitors?

We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Officer to work closely with the Schools Site Manager to ensure a safe, secure, smooth and efficient running of our school.

About the role:

As Maintenance Officer you will be responsible for ensuring the whole school buildings and grounds are safe and well‑presented at all times.

This will include some daily, weekly, monthly checks and maintenance schedules.

Your work will directly support the learning and wellbeing of our pupils and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the security of the school premises by securing entrances, exits, gates and designated areas once all pupils are on site, reporting any potential security breaches to the Site Manager.
  • Assist the Site Manager with fire safety equipment checks, carry out fire drills and respond to alarm systems where appropriate and to conduct regular routine health and safety checks, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • To be a designated key holder, on occasions providing access and attend emergency call outs outside of normal school hours.
  • To carry out minor repairs not requiring a contractor and undertake decorating and improvement work as directed by senior staff.
  • To manage emergency repairs with external contractors and/or LA as required in the absence of the Site Manager.
  • To operate heating plant, cooling and lighting systems reporting any faults to the Site Manager.
  • To organise and participate in the movement of furniture throughout the building and provide a porterage service around the school.
  • To monitor and manage stock levels of resources for cleaning and repairs/maintenance, including receipt, distribution and collection and dispatch.
  • To collect and assemble waste.

This is a full year role with annual leave to be taken during school holiday periods.

During term time the working day will Monday to Friday 08.30 14.45.

Working hours during the holiday periods can be reviewed.
