Position

Maintenance Manager – Estates Department, Permanent, Full time (35 hours per week, 1 FTE), Salary scale: £29,686 – £35,781 per annum.

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Manager to work within our busy Estates Department.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Conservatoire’s facilities maintenance, ensuring all areas – staff, student, public, and back of stage spaces – are maintained to a high standard and provide a safe, welcoming environment for work, learning, and visitors.
  • Lead a team of Maintenance Assistants, taking a hands‑on, proactive approach to day‑to‑day operations, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources across both buildings, supporting the team in delivering maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing, joinery, painting and decorating.
  • Support teamwork across the Conservatoire, responding to maintenance needs promptly and ensuring planned works are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Qualifications

Previous managerial and practical experience in a maintenance or facilities setting, ability to monitor staff, good record‑keeping skills and capability to perform multi‑trade skills in joinery, plumbing, electrical work, and decoration. Strong understanding of building systems and how they operate, applied across multiple disciplines.

Shift Requirements

Due to the nature of the Conservatoire opening times, some weekend, evening and night‑shift work may be required.
