Overview

Talent Hound Recruitment Ltd are delighted to be working with one of Yorks longest established manufacturing firms based 5 miles from York City Centre.

We are looking for a MECHANICALLY BIASED Maintenance Engineer on a full time permanent basis.

Working hours

3-week rotating shift system, Monday to Friday with 30 minutes unpaid break.

  • Shift A: 6:00am to 2:30pm (Shift A will work the Saturday rota from 6:00am to 10:00am)
  • Shift B: 2:00pm to 10:30pm
  • Shift C: 8:00am to 4:30pm (Shift C will cover the remaining callout hours on a call-out basis)
Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs as directed by the Engineering Manager, Technical Engineering, Operations and Production Directors.

Principal accountabilities
  • Repair, maintain, and attend breakdowns of all plant and machinery, including building maintenance, and any other work allocated by the Engineering Manager, Technical Engineering, Operations and Production Directors
  • Assist with the upgrade of equipment and installation of new equipment
  • Complete hot work permits to ensure this work is undertaken in a safe manner
  • Ensure maintenance activities are controlled and do not pose a risk of cross contamination
  • Undertake callouts as scheduled by the Technical Engineering Director
  • Maintain daily work records
  • Ensuring all safe working procedures/instructions are followed at all times whilst performing maintenance and repair work
  • Ensure all waste is correctly segregated and disposed of in the appropriate waste container
  • To carry out daily maintenance, calibration and repairs of the Treatment Plant (training will be given), as scheduled and directed by the Engineering Manager/Technical Engineering Director
Qualifications / Experience
  • Qualifications in mechanical engineering
  • Good knowledge of mechanical maintenance and operation of all factory machines.
  • Good practical mechanical ability; and ability to work under minimum supervision
