Overview

Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: Larkhall

Pay Range/details: Competitive salary + benefits

Contract Type: Permanent

Shift Patterns: Rotating shift pattern 6-2, 2-10, 10-6 on a weekly rotation; Continental 1st week - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat and Sun; 2nd week - Wed and Thu; Dayshift 6am-6pm (2 weeks rotate).

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Larkhall site. You will play a crucial role in delivering effective planned and reactive maintenance services to ensure the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to contribute to our high standards of operational excellence while working collaboratively with a team of experienced engineers and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times
  • Resolve machine breakdowns promptly, escalating to lead engineer or specialist when necessary
  • Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PPMS) to align with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adhere to 5S principles
  • Conduct effective handovers with clear, timely written and verbal communication
  • Order parts using the correct administrative processes
  • Contribute to the upkeep of stores and ensure compliance with standards
  • Perform root cause analysis to provide permanent fixes for recurring issues
  • Ensure the correct tools are available for every job
  • Demonstrate good standards of conduct, including adherence to site rules
  • Collaborate effectively with third-party contractors when required
  • Optimize resource use, including skills, personnel, and tools, for each job
  • Provide supervision and coaching to apprentices on assigned tasks
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Time-served and qualified Maintenance Engineer (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Maintenance Engineer
  • Electrical bias with 17th or 18th Edition certification and proven experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong time management skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work effectively within a team
  • Desirable: Hydraulic experience and previous work in a manufacturing environment
  • Equivalent qualifications to 17th/18th Edition for candidates trained outside the UK or with alternative certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or similar)
