Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Location: Rotherham, S60 (Close to Meadowhall, Sheffield)

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: This role is available on either permanent nights (Mon Thurs, 8pm 6am) or permanent weekends (Fri Sun, 6am 6pm).

Verus Recruitment is partnering with a leading manufacturing company based in South Yorkshire. Supplying OEMs across industries such as defence, security, construction, quarrying, recycling, and rail, they operate across two facilities in Rotherham with a wide range of in-house capabilities including laser cutting, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, shot blasting, painting, and assembly.

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their team. You will play a key role in keeping production running smoothly by ensuring equipment reliability and minimising downtime.

About the Role:
  • Organising routine servicing / PPM schedules across multiple machines
  • Researching machine operation principles to support repairs
  • Diagnosing and fitting new parts
  • Responding promptly to breakdowns and resolving faults
  • Conducting scheduled checks, overhauls, and part replacements
  • Collaborating with OEM engineers and the H&S department
  • Modifying machinery to meet operational requirements
  • Sourcing parts during breakdowns
  • Independently fault-finding on complex machinery
  • Working at height when required
  • Interpreting and applying schematic drawings in diagnostics
About You:
  • Proven experience in maintenance, repairs, and breakdowns within a metal fabrication / manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrics (400v 3-phase)
  • Practical expertise across pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Skilled problem solver with a hands-on approach to issues on the shop floor
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to meet changing operational needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Quality-focused mindset with a drive for continuous improvement
