Job description

Maintenance Engineer

With a commanding position in the UK FMCG and Food market sector, this highly respected brand has witnessed massive investment and expansion in its East Midlands Site. As a core member of the Engineering team, you will take ownership of all site services, facilities, and non-productive assets across the site. You will ensure the safe and effective delivery of support services by providing robust resource management, communication, information flow, policies, procedures, and contractor coordination. Your role is critical in maintaining and continuously improving the site’s infrastructure to ensure maximum availability and performance.

You will develop and execute a comprehensive facilities maintenance plan, ensuring that plant, equipment, and resources are utilised efficiently. This position requires a strategic mindset to shape the site services function in line with business needs, covering cross-functional planning, stores management, plant and equipment coordination, and engineering-related work streams including site projects.

Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Site Services Management
  • Take full responsibility for all site services, buildings, facilities, and non-productive assets to ensure they remain operationally ready at all times.
  • Deliver planned and unplanned maintenance activities in a timely and prioritised manner to support operational requirements while maintaining people, bird, and food safety standards.
  • Lead the use of the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) to schedule, record, and manage all maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all non-productive assets are accurately captured and maintained within Maintenance Connect, using internal or external resources as needed.
Planning & Coordination
  • Develop and communicate a site-wide facility maintenance plan, ensuring appropriate resources are in place for its effective delivery.
  • Support the Engineering Planner in analysing site utility performance, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure all PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) activities are scheduled outside production hours unless otherwise agreed with Engineering and Operations leadership.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
  • Apply effective problem-solving techniques to prevent repeat failures and eliminate GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) area abnormalities.
  • Proactively report shortcomings in systems of work or procedures, proposing improvements and practical solutions.
  • Interpret daily handover reports to identify opportunities for site service or infrastructure improvements.
  • Promote and uphold company policies, safety standards, and continuous improvement practices across the engineering function.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to understand requirements and deliver support within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure strong GMP standards and foster a collaborative approach across the site.
  • Lead by example within the engineering team, demonstrating safe working behaviours and a commitment to best practice.
