Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: HILTON BELFASTAs a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a key supporting role within the property operations team by carrying out preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, and ensuring the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and systems operate safely and efficiently. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, contractors, and operational teams, you will help maintain a safe, functional, and well-presented environment for guests and employees.You will be a proactive, hands‑on team member with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and service. In a fast‑paced hospitality environment, you will support routine inspections, minor repairs, compliance checks, and energy‑efficient practices while contributing to the consistent delivery of brand standards. With a willingness to learn and enhance your technical skills, you will play an important part in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of the hotel.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections of rooms, public areas, and equipment according to schedules.
  • Identify defects, document findings, and elevate or address minor repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and follow‑ups.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment safely.
  • Perform preventative care to prolong equipment lifespan and respond to breakdowns efficiently.
  • Track and manage operational assets to ensure availability and compliance.
  • Follow health, safety, and COSHH regulations.
  • Identify hazards, participate in emergency drills, and support internal audits.
  • Promote a safety‑first culture within the team.
  • Liaise with external contractors and vendors for maintenance tasks.
  • Schedule, monitor, and document outsourced work.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor energy use and implement sustainable maintenance practices.
  • Take preventative measures to reduce repair costs and support budget‑conscious operations.
  • Suggest operational improvements based on data and observations.
  • Ensure rooms, public areas, and equipment meet brand SOPs.
  • Evaluate operational readiness and provide feedback to teams for improvement.
  • Maintain consistency and a continuous improvement mindset across all areas.
