Job Summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Maintenance All-rounder (electrician) to join our estates and facilities team. This is a working, hands-on role covering multiple Isabella’s Homes sites across the West Midlands (Birmingham, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Warwickshire, and Cannock). The successful applicant will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our buildings and associated services while providing a responsive and professional maintenance service to our organisation.

The role will involve carrying out routine maintenance, fault finding, installations, and repair work on a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems. The postholder will also be expected to take part in the emergency on-call rota to provide essential cover out of hours.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical installations, plant, and equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and minor installation works.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests via the estates reporting system and complete required documentation. Independently interpret and work from instructions, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other trades, client representatives, and contractors to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely, maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Undertake small improvement works and contribute to capital schemes as directed.
  • Support the safe operation of lifts, including emergency release procedures following training.
  • Participate in an emergency on-call rota and provide cover during staff absences.
  • Travel between multiple West Midlands sites as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential
  • Recognised and registered engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent experience).
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Electrical Certificate.
Knowledge & Experience – Essential
  • Demonstrable skilled experience in electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems.
  • Competence in fault finding, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
  • Computer literate with good oral and written communication skills.
Desirable
  • Experience in hospital, care home, or supported living maintenance.
  • Competence in planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Knowledge of control systems and relevant technical standards.
