Job summary

A leading manufacturing firm in Coventry is seeking an experienced Production Manager (CNC Precision Machining) to oversee the machine shop operations. The ideal candidate will lead and develop a team of CNC Engineers and ensure efficient production processes. Responsibilities include managing budgets, ensuring quality control, and driving cost-reduction initiatives. Applicants should possess strong leadership skills and have prior experience in machining management. This is a permanent position with a salary range of £50,000 to £60,000 per annum.

Qualifications

  • Qualified as an engineer via an apprenticeship or further education.
  • Previous experience as a Machine Shop Manager (within CNC Precision Machining is preferred).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Are you an experienced CNC Production or Operations Manager looking for a new role or a senior engineer with CNC experience who is looking for a move into management? This Machine Shop Managers position could be the role for you.

As the Machine Shop Manager this is a key role, running the machine shop with complete autonomy on site, the company manufactures 5 axis components in the facility using high level and modern machine tools.

Machine Shop Manager Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor and develop CNC Engineers
  • Ensure all orders are completed with a ‘right first time’ ethos
  • Build strong collaboration with internal teams, customers and suppliers
  • Responsible for planning, processes work through the machine shop
  • Identify and deliver cost‑reduction opportunities while protecting quality
  • Responsible for all aspects for the machine shop and tooling
  • Manage a skilled group of engineers
  • Oversee operating systems, processes and structures to ensure accurate planning and execution
  • Responsible for budgets Profit & Loss for the facility
Machine Shop Manager Experience
  • It is expected that the right person will be qualified as an engineer via an apprenticeship or further education
  • Previous experience as a Machine Shop Manager (within CNC Precision Machining is preferred)
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven background delivering complex prototype machining to tight deadlines
