Job summary

A leading multinational Diesel Engine Manufacturing client in Peterborough is seeking a Machining Technician for a contract role within their Research & Development Department. The position involves various machining tasks using CNC and conventional machinery, following technical instructions and working to deadlines. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical skills, including experience with engineering drawings and specific machining tools.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with conventional Lathes, milling machines, Grinding, and Boring machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

PE Global are currently recruiting for a Machining Technician for a contract role with a leading multinational Diesel Engine Manufacturing client based in Peterborough.

The successful candidate will be working within the Research & Development Department to carry out, a variety of machining tasks to support our current and new programs, working to tight deadlines.

This will involve reading and interpreting engineering drawings and following engineers’ instructions using a variety of machinery (CNC and conventional) to produce the parts.

Required skills

• Good PC skills, including Microsoft Office, emails etc.
• Previous experience operating conventional Lathes, milling machines, Grinding, Boring machines and or CNC programming / operating.
• Previous experience in using measuring equipment, including Vernier calipers depth and thread gauges to name a few.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Desirable skills

• Apprenticeship / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Machining or equivalent qualifications.
• Previous experience at work coordinating or Leadership Experience.
• Experience using Mazak 5 axis Mazatrol smooth X control, Feature Cam.
• Experience using Haas ST 10 Fanuc control.
