ME+EM is a leading UK-based clothing brand that operates online sales and retail stores primarily in the UK and US market. We ship all US online orders from the UK and import stock for our current 5 retail stores (and growing) and frequent trunk shows and pop-ups. We are seeking an experienced Logistics & Customs Coordinator to oversee and streamline the import and export operations of goods between the UK and the US. This role will play a crucial part in handling the administration related to the movement of merchandise cross border, returns, and US duty drawback claims. They will report to the Head of Operations and work closely with the Operations Director, Head of Procurement, Finance, Retail, Visual Merchandising, Property and Merchandising teams as well as the Head of Special Projects based in the US.
Logistics: Work with internal and external parties, including finance, merchandising, freight forwarders and customs brokers to help coordinate new store openings, replenishment of packaging, inbound store deliveries, product recalls, and trunk shows. Monitor shipment progress, proactively follow up shipment delays and keep stakeholders informed.
Carrier Management: Conduct analysis of carrier performance, including on-time delivery rates, shipping accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Spot-check carrier invoices and shipping documentation for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies. Provide carriers with updated volume forecasts.
Broker Communication and Problem Resolution: Address inquiries from customs brokers and resolve import shipment issues, conducting necessary research for customs clearance.
Comprehensive Customs Records Maintenance: Maintain customs entry data in support of value reconciliation and duty drawback claims.
Process and Policy Enhancement: Aid in refining internal import/export processes and controls to align with corporate policies and US Customs & Border Protection guidelines for ongoing compliance.
Special projects, e.g. VIP gifting.
Strategic Project Support: Assist logistics and customs compliance management in projects aimed at enhancing efficiency, compliance, and cost reduction.
Maintain Reconciliations / Reports: Perform reconciliations of US imports and exports. Monitor and reconcile stock movements between retail stores and omnichannel operations.
Inventory Management: Monitor packaging stock levels and ensure there is always sufficient stock available to meet demand.
Proven experience in operations, preferably in the e-commerce or fashion industry.
Familiarity with shipping, logistics, and fulfilment processes.
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Problem-solving mindset and the ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
Knowledge of luxury customer service principles and practices.
1-2 years of customs experience is desirable.
