About the Role – Drive Operational Excellence in Transport and Logistics

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations, ensuring smooth scheduling and vehicle management

  • Manage the transport team, including planners, logistics administrators, gatehouse controllers and our loading and driving teams.

  • Lead relationships with logistics providers and off-site storage facilities, ensuring service quality and cost optimization

  • Coordinate transport scheduling for outbound and inbound loads, ensuring efficient use of the UK fleet

  • Supervise the planning and execution of deliveries across the UK, with occasional coordination of international shipments

  • Work closely with the on-site garage manager to ensure vehicle availability and compliance

  • Develop and monitor KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement in performance and safety

  • Lead negotiations with third-party logistics providers, ensuring alignment with company objectives and standards

  • Support and train team members, fostering a culture of accountability and growth

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth logistics execution

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing logistics and transport operations

  • Proven track record in transport planning, fleet management, and logistics optimization. CPC qualification would be beneficial.

  • Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment

  • ADR (Dangerous Goods by Road) training or certification is a plus

  • Experience with ERP systems (such as M3) and vehicle tracking/fleet management systems is preferred

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience in the agriculture or animal feed sector is desirable but not mandatory

  • Soft Skills like proactive, organized, and results-driven, with strong leadership and communication skills. Able to manage multiple priorities, motivate teams, and build strong cross-functional relationships

Other Requirements:

  • Availability for very occasional travel within the UK and to logistics partners as required

  • Work model: On-site, full-time (Ashbourne, UK)
