A leading health board in Wales is seeking a Locum Consultant General Radiologist with an interest in Gastrointestinal Oncology and Musculoskeletal. The role includes teaching responsibilities and participating in clinical governance. Candidates must have Full GMC Registration and FRCR or equivalent. Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant General Radiologist with an interest in Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology and Musculoskeletal (MSK). We are happy to discuss accommodating any specialist interests.
This is a busy Gastroenterology unit with on‑site endoscopy, ERCP and stenting, Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiography (PTC). Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is provided in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Weekly multi‑disciplinary team (MDT) links into the supra‑regional MDT and upper GI surgery is provided at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post holder would be expected to contribute and support these services and attend the MDTs.
This unit supports a wide‑spectrum of Oncology including lung, breast, GI, gynaecology, urology, haematology and Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) MDTs. The Radiotherapy Centre is centralised at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd but there is a chemotherapy centre on all three sites. Oncology cross‑sectional imaging would be an important part of the post holder's job plan.
The post holder will have responsibility for teaching, quality assurance and service management within their specialist areas and will contribute to the wider workload of the department, subject to job plan discussions. This includes General Radiology on call rotas and teaching of Radiology trainees, Undergraduate Students and other hospital staff.
Consultants contribute to management of clinical risk through monitoring clinical incidents and participating in departmental discrepancy meetings. Compliance with the department's complaints and litigation policies contributes to good risk management. Good record keeping is expected and consultants are expected to participate in audit. Research is encouraged particularly when appropriate to the professional development of the successful candidate and to the service development of the directorate.
