University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a locum 7‑PA Consultant ENT surgeon who has a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education and training. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
NB: 1:14 on‑call commitment. The post is clinic‑heavy to support reducing our time to first waits; it will include work off‑site and require flexible working. The post holder must be on the specialist register. This post offers no fixed theatre session, but there will be opportunities to cover theatre sessions available due to leave, hence the need for flexibility. This provisional job plan is subject to agreement and change.

The consultant’s job plan is expected to comprise 7 Programmed Activities per week on average, to be carried out at the RNENT and our satellite clinics at Edgware and Whittington. The new post‑holder will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Director within three months of start date; the consultant may be required to undertake a prospective diary exercise to inform this process.
Of the 7 PA’s, 6 will be Direct Clinical Care, including an on‑call commitment of 1 in 12, and then 1 SPA. The DCC job plan follows a team‑based approach. The part of the job plan related to wider departmental activities, supporting professional activities and personal objectives is more individually tailored.
