A prestigious NHS foundation trust in City of Westminster is seeking a locum consultant for the Diabetes/Endocrine Department for a 6-month post. The role involves covering maternity leave, managing in-patient care, and participating in daily board rounds. Candidates should have relevant experience and strong collaborative skills. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic NHS environment committed to excellent patient care.
We are looking for a 6 month Locum Consultant to cover a vacancy within the Diabetes/Endocrine Department. This is a locum post created to cover the maternity leave of one of the consultants. The post is for 10 Programmed Activities. Each of the diabetes/ endocrinology consultants will be in charge of in-patients (we work a ward based system and look after a 22 bedded ward and allocated outliers) for 2 weeks for every 8 weeks (1:4 rota, shared with 3 other consultants), during which period, he or she is expected to do three full ward rounds a week, as well as daily review of new patients transferred to the ward and those who need senior review. The consultant in charge of the wards is also expected to take part in daily board rounds as well as facilitate timely discharge of patients. The balance of 6 weeks out of 8 is on the non-wards rota described below. The acute medical share of workload may overlap and will need clinic cancellations to reflect the same.
North Mid is part of the North Central London integrated care system – consisting of the NHS and local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. As with other Integrated Care Systems, we work increasingly closely with partners and many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. While all organisations remain as standalone statutory bodies, we have an Integrated Care System infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.
We are proud of our staff and want to ensure their training allows them to provide excellent clinical care. We are also a training unit for medical students from UCL and St George’s University Grenada, and for nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex and City Universities.
Our trust has over 17,000 staff serving 2 million patients every year. It comprises Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital, North Middlesex University Hospital and more than 30 services in the community. This larger scale organisation provides an unprecedented opportunity to continue pioneering work, particularly in finding ways to deliver even better care to our patients. Our mission is to deliver world‑class care and expertise in our clinical services, underpinned by world‑class teaching and research, and we will continue to measure our progress against five governing objectives: excellent outcomes, excellent patient and staff experience, excellent value for taxpayers’ money, being safe and meeting our external duties, and building a strong organisation.
Everyone is welcome at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. We’re proud of our diversity and we continue to undertake new initiatives to advance equality for LGBT+, BME, gender equality, staff carers and people with disabilities and lived experiences to promote good relations and understanding between our staff.
