Job description

We're seeking a skilled and compassionate Locum Dermatology Consultant to join our team in delivering high-quality, patient‑centred care. This role involves managing a diverse caseload of dermatological conditions, providing expert diagnosis and treatment, and contributing to multidisciplinary care planning.

Main duties of the job
  • Clinical Management: Provide expert care across a broad range of dermatological conditions, including skin cancer and inflammatory skin disease.
  • Procedural Work: Perform dermatological procedures such as biopsies, excisions, and minor surgeries in line with service needs.
  • Teledermoscopy: Manage a dedicated teledermoscopy caseload, ensuring timely and accurate remote assessment of skin lesions.
  • Clinical Leadership: Offer guidance and support to junior staff, contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions, and help shape service development.
  • Documentation & Governance: Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to governance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across specialties to ensure integrated and patient‑centred care.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in‑hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications
Essential
  • Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
Desirable
  • Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc
  • On Specialist Register due to obtain relevant CCT within 6 months of interview
  • Or Portfolio Pathway (CESR) or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration
Clinical Experience

  • Broad based experience in Dermatology
  • Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent)
