Overview

The Locality Lead Learning Disability Nurse role at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) offers an opportunity to lead and contribute to the effective provision of services to adults with learning disabilities and additional needs (e.g., autism). The closing date for applications is 07 October 2025.

Are you passionate about improving the health, wellbeing and outcomes of adults with learning disabilities? Are you dynamic, forward-thinking, an experienced leader, a skilled communicator and an effective problem solver, and committed to providing excellent care? This role involves working directly with individuals who use the service, their families and the staff who support them in assessment and planning processes, including supporting people with complex and changing health care needs. You will develop the nursing service within the designated Community Learning Disability Service to manage the waiting list and referrals through allocation of work, supervision and support, alongside the Community Matron.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with the senior nursing and health managers, develop, lead and manage the nursing resource within the community learning disability team. Receive and respond to the needs of referred learning-disabled adults to develop positive lives in their local community. This involves allocation of clinical work to nursing colleagues, ensuring appropriate allocation of nursing resources and the effective deployment and development of nursing skills. Maintain clinical excellence in the Learning Disability nursing field and lead pathways of care. In the absence of the Professional Lead, the post holder may cover identified responsibilities.
