Job Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Serve as the hands‑on point of contact for trade authorities and management, managing export license applications, customs filings, and regulatory submissions.
  • Oversee daily trade compliance activities, including product classification, valuation, country‑of‑origin verification, and transaction‑level approvals.
  • Develop and implement practical trade compliance procedures and systems (e.g., SAP GTS) to ensure consistent, operational compliance across local teams.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks in real time, providing actionable guidance to business operations and continuously improving processes.
  • Act as point of contact for customs brokers in case of clarification needs (e.g., regarding valuation or classification of products).
  • Audit customs brokers regarding the correctness of customs entries, invoicing and archiving.
  • Manage the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost‑effective and lawful execution of all import/export activities.
  • Maintain and share with colleagues, as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import/export laws and procedures, tariffs, duties, licenses and restrictions.

    Solid understanding of export control and customs rules, with potential for further expertise development within local and global context.

  • Have several years of experience in business processes, with a strong understanding of supply chain management, risk management and logistics.
  • Have experience working with trade compliance management systems (e.g., SAP GTS) and data‑driven compliance processes.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, providing guidance and training to teams.
  • Be proficient in the English language.
  • Have a strong business mindset, be self‑driven and responsive to operational needs.
  • Have technical knowledge in the relevant product areas (though willingness to learn is essential).

About the Role

This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We are entering an exciting new chapter as we have announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. This Position reports to: SCM Manager. As a Local Trade Compliance Officer you will have the opportunity to be responsible for local import/export operations. Each day, you will supervise performance of customs brokers. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring smooth execution of operational trade and customs activities within a local unit, including relevant documentation and compliance with regulations.

The work model for the role is: #LI‑hybrid. This role is contributing to the ABB Robotics UK Ltd.
