Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) - Stevenage

Location: Farnham House, Six Hills Way, Stevenage

Pay: £42.50 per hour

Contract: Temporary (6 months)

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Hybrid Working: Majority of tasks completed remotely

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join Hertfordshire's Child Protection Service. This is a specialist role managing and overseeing the allegations management process in line with local and national safeguarding procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee individual cases involving allegations against individuals working in the children's workforce.
  • Chair LADO meetings, agree decisions and actions, and ensure accurate recording and timely distribution of notes.
  • Work with employers to ensure appropriate referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain robust recording systems to provide clear audit trails for decision-making.li>
  • Implement performance management systems and share learning to improve safeguarding practice.
  • Establish links with other LADOs regionally and nationally to share best practice.
What We're Looking For
  • Social Work qualification preferred, but candidates with extensive LADO experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be a car driver.
