Summary

We are currently looking to appoint a Librarian to manage and oversee the Learning Resources Centre at Harris Girls\' Academy East Dulwich.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing, organising and supervising the Learning Resources Centre (LRC)
  • Ensuring all learning resources equipment is maintained and reporting IT faults promptly
  • Maintaining a professional, stimulating, and tidy learning environment, foregrounding student achievements
  • Contributing to presentation and consultation evenings, meeting parents and encouraging reading beyond the curriculum
  • Advising staff, students, and the community on using and developing learning resources
  • Planning and delivering staff training (INSET) on learning resources and teaching techniques
  • Timetabling LRC, enterprise centre, post-16 study centre and other resources
  • Collaborating with English and media teams to publicise and organise annual book week and author visits
  • Promoting effective use of the LRC across the curriculum
  • Guiding groups and individuals in using the LRC
  • Liaising with other information agencies and LRC managers to ensure excellent service
  • Developing and implementing study and information skills linked to the curriculum
  • Participating in community links, including working flexibly and opening out of academy hours
  • Keeping accurate records for efficient resource management
  • Disseminating information about resources and access to staff and students
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reviewing LRC use and development, including collecting data
  • Organising and supervising after-hours, lunchtime and break-time activities (e.g., study support, homework clubs)
Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of library systems
  • Knowledge of Accelerated Reading scheme
  • Knowledge of National curriculum particularly for English
  • Librarian qualifications
  • Three years’ experience of working in an inner-city school or educational establishment
  • Experience of managing a library service
  • Experience of a range of reading schemes
  • Experience of working with students from a range of ethnic backgrounds
