Librarian

Secondary School - Tower Hamlets
Salary: 14 - 15.50 p/h
Hours: Full-time

We are seeking a motivated, organised and enthusiastic Librarian to join our vibrant secondary school in the heart of Tower Hamlets. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting reading, literacy and independent learning across the school.

The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day running of the school library, creating a welcoming and inclusive space that supports students' academic progress, wellbeing and love of reading.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop the school library as a calm, engaging and purposeful learning environment
  • Support students with reading, research and independent study
  • Promote reading for pleasure and information literacy across Key Stages 3-5
  • Organise, catalogue and maintain library resources (print and digital)
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support curriculum learning
  • Supervise students using the library during the school day
  • Support literacy initiatives and events such as reading programmes and book fairs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working in a library or educational setting (desirable)
  • A passion for reading, literacy and young people's learning
  • Strong organisational and ICT skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
