Legal Assistant - Corporate Commercial

Hours: Full-Time 9.30am-5.30pm

Department: Corporate and Commercial

The Role
  • Assist a growing corporate team with a substantial workload including transactions such as buying and selling businesses as well as investment arrangements, shareholder agreements and general commercial matters.
  • Be a fee earner undertaking chargeable work with a personal time and fee target. The individual will also be required to assist the team with general administration, including matters such as DocuSign and post completion work.
  • Carry out non-chargeable work in addition to chargeable work required, including marketing activities and undertaking appropriate training.
  • Be generally self‑supporting in terms of typing and administration, with an hourly rate and fee target set accordingly, though additional administrative support may be provided where commercially justifiable.
  • Deliver excellent literacy, numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail, with excellent keyboard and IT skills.
  • Enthusiasm and energy to make a full contribution to the dynamic operation of the team.
  • Seek continuous improvement of own skills and provide good value to clients in the legal services provided.
  • Operate under the supervision and responsibility of a designated lawyer within each department.
  • Participate fully in training and activities designed for Legal Assistants across the firm.
Personal Characteristics
  • Manage workload autonomously while receiving close supervision and support from experienced solicitors.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills to efficiently and cost‑effectively manage multiple files, working to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to demonstrate understanding of clients’ needs and expectations and when communicating with colleagues.
  • Focused attention to detail, speed and accuracy for all written documentation.
  • Team player contributing to the success of the team.
  • Have a law degree (or conversion / GPDL) or some experience of working in a law firm and be proactive, capable and willing to learn.
