FTE Salary: up to £41,076.00 (Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience)

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Our Maths team

The SGS Maths team delivers Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, as well as GCSE Maths. We are a vibrant and collaborative team, dedicated to ensuring that every learner makes positive progress and achieves successful outcomes. At SGS, English and Maths are placed at the heart of the curriculum, reflecting our commitment to supporting young people in developing essential skills for their future.

Our team works positively together to develop innovative strategies and tailored interventions, with a clear focus on measuring progress over time. Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging GCSE and Functional Skills Maths lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners, ensuring progress and achievement.
  • Monitor and support learners development in Maths, providing feedback and interventions to help them achieve positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across learning areas to support the development of learners' numeracy skills within their broader curriculum.
  • Share best practices and innovative teaching strategies with the Maths team and wider staff to enhance the quality of numeracy delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of learners progress and contribute to reports, reviews, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience working with learners in an educational setting, demonstrating an ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or possessing substantial relevant subject expertise in Maths.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development, including obtaining a Stage 3 full professional qualification (PGCE in post-16 education or equivalent).
  • Adaptability and a student-focused approach, ensuring diverse learning needs are met effectively.
