Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare teaching materials, equipment and resources for student activities and project work, including planning and online materials.
  • Deliver high‑quality learning experiences that enable learners to develop academic skills.
  • Support the development of learners’ mastery of skills and knowledge through contextualised vocational sessions and reinforcement through practice.
  • Measure learner progress through a range of assessments and provide feedback.
  • Assist learners across all programmes, including apprenticeship delivery, with tracking and records linked to programme requirements.
  • Maintain academic records including registers and records of work.
  • Distribute equipment, tools and materials to authorised staff and students when required.
  • Provide a high‑quality, professional image and environment as directed by the Curriculum Operations Manager / Director of Learning.
  • Ensure all display work is up to date, of high quality and represents the students within the current area.
  • Assist in the efficient running of the area by being aware of duties performed by other members of the team and helping when requested.
Key Qualifications
  • Subject specific Level 3/4 qualification.
  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training/Cert Ed/PGCE (or willingness to achieve within two years).
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and maths.
  • L3 Assessor qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience working in an academic setting and supporting learners’ needs.
  • Experience supporting teaching and learning in a classroom, workshop or workplace environment.
  • Experience supporting revision workshops, study skills, and covering classes.
  • Knowledge of the specialist sector.
  • Organisational, administrative and time‑management skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to use initiative to develop and improve the service within College policy and procedures.

Working Hours

35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Salary

£25,500 – £39,267.

Annual Leave

42 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period).

About the Role

As our Lecturer in Early Years, you will provide academic and technical support to learners, delivering classes that consolidate learning through practice. The role contributes to the college’s vision to become and sustain outstanding, providing academic and technical support across the Catering curriculum to maintain a safe learning environment.

The post holder will support learning through the delivery of classes that consolidate skills and knowledge taught across the Study Programme and Apprenticeship offer.
