Job description

Role: Lecturer - Computing

Location: Tresham College - Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough Campuses

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note - Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week - 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Computing to join our Computing & Digital Technologies department at The Bedford College Group.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching & Assessment - Prepare, deliver, and assess computing courses from Level 1 to Level 5, ensuring high‑quality and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Student Support & Progress - Guide learners to achieve success, monitor performance, provide tutorials, and maintain accurate records.
  • Curriculum Development & Innovation - Contribute to schemes of work, create engaging materials, and support new course development aligned with industry trends.
  • Quality Assurance & Engagement - Implement quality processes, participate in marketing activities, and liaise with awarding bodies to maintain standards.
  • Compliance & College Responsibilities - Uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety requirements; support exams, open days, and College‑wide initiatives.
About you:
  • Essential Qualifications - Degree in computing or relevant industry experience, GCSE English and Maths, valid DBS and visa status.
  • Teaching & Quality Experience - Proven experience teaching Level 2‑4, knowledge of FE quality assurance systems, and ability to use IT/data for course improvement.
  • Core Skills & Competence - Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills; ability to meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality learning experiences.
  • Professional Attributes - Ability to influence, lead, and work under pressure; maintain confidentiality, promote College values, and uphold safeguarding and EDI standards.
  • Flexibility & Mobility - Willingness to adapt hours, travel across campuses, and maintain health & safety awareness, including risk assessment capability.
