Salary / Benefits

Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Childcare and Primary Education to join our Health, Social Care & Childcare department at The Bedford College Group .

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through :

• Deliver High-Quality Teaching – Provide engaging lessons across Childcare, Primary Education, and Health & Social Care, tailored to individual learner needs.
• Plan, Assess & Monitor Progress – Prepare schemes of work, assess to awarding body standards, track student progress, and implement timely interventions.
• Enhance Student Experience – Support tutorials, organise trips, promote vocational opportunities, and maintain inclusive, safe learning environments.
• Contribute to Curriculum & Quality – Develop innovative resources, participate in course reviews, marketing activities, and ensure compliance with quality processes.
• Commit to Professional Standards – Uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and engage in continuous professional development to maintain sector best practice.

About you

• Essential Qualifications – Level 3+ Early Years or Primary Education qualification, GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve), and commitment to gaining Certificate in Education.
• Sector Knowledge & Experience – Recent work in Early Years / Primary Education, strong understanding of current developments, and evidence of high performance in previous roles.
• Teaching & Student Support Skills – Ability to plan schemes of work, deliver inclusive lessons, monitor progress, manage behaviour, and create a positive learning environment.
• Professional Attributes & Values – Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, commitment to safeguarding, EDI, and College values (Student-Centred, Excellence, Teamwork, Caring, Inclusive).
• Flexibility & Continuous Development – Willingness to update skills, adapt to changing needs, travel across sites, and maintain professional boundaries while promoting learner success.
