Operational Support Officer

£26,625 per annum | 6-month Fixed‑Term Contract | Long Stratton

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading housing provider for an Operational Support Officer to join their Lettings and Support Team on a 6‑month FTC. This role is ideal for someone with strong customer service experience and a solid understanding of housing management processes. This is a key position supporting tenancy and estate management, voids and lettings, and customer‑facing housing services, working as part of a multi‑skilled and customer‑focused team.

The Role
  • Providing administrative support to ensure the prompt re‑letting of void and new‑build properties, including arranging tenancy sign‑ups.
  • Managing the allocation of garages, garden plots and parking bays, including income collection and arrears processes.
  • Checking and processing void utility bills and liaising with energy suppliers.
  • Assisting customers with tenancy sustainment needs and signposting to support services.
  • Being the main point of contact for tenants attending the office, handling tenancy and lettings queries, and carrying out interviews in designated rooms.
  • Supporting Neighbourhood Management with access‑related tasks such as gas servicing, electrical checks and asbestos compliance.
  • Undertaking clerical and administrative duties to support the wider Housing Management and Lettings teams.
  • Maintaining accurate data input and supporting the reporting of performance metrics.
About You
  • Experience working in a customer service environment.
  • A good working knowledge of housing management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to prioritise a busy workload and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • High attention to detail, proactive working style and the ability to handle complex situations.
  • Empathy and a commitment to delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused services.
  • A good general level of education (NVQ Level 2 / GCSEs A–C or equivalent).
Additional Information
  • Occasional home visits may be required to support the Housing Management service.
  • This is a 6‑month fixed‑term contract with a salary of £26,625 per annum.
  • Based in Long Stratton.
