Job summary

A supportive educational organization based in Basildon is seeking a passionate Learning Support Assistant to provide individual and group support to learners. The role involves assisting with educational activities, lesson preparation, and promoting safeguarding practices. 8.30 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday 1-hour lunch 37.5 hours per week (Term Time only 38 plus 2 weeks). Some flexibility on these hours may be required.

Qualifications
  • Qualified to PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) Essential
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above Essential
  • L2 / L3 Safeguarding Essential
  • SEN qualifications demonstrating knowledge and competency with ASD (autism spectrum disorder)
  • Behaviour management training
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to learners in both group and individual settings
  • Play an active role in classroom and physical activities alongside tutors
  • Gain on-the-job training with continued professional development (CPD)
  • Assist with lesson preparation schemes of work Individual Student Plans (ISPs) and Care Plans
  • Maintain knowledge of each learners stage of development assessments and support needs
  • Support with educational visits and accompany learners when required
  • Follow and promote safeguarding health & safety confidentiality and data protection policies

Pre‑employment checks
