Overview

Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join the Student Support and Wellbeing (SSWI) department. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with SEND/LDD needs, empowering them to achieve independence, make progress, and prepare for the next steps in their academic and personal lives. We have various positions available with a range of hours, providing flexibility to suit different working patterns.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with curriculum and support staff to create a positive, inclusive learning environment and promote essential behaviours for learning and personal growth.
  • Set specific, measurable goals with each student, tracking their progress and adjusting support as needed to foster continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate student engagement across various settings (e.g., classrooms, workshops, and labs), supporting reasonable adjustments and encouraging autonomy.
  • Help students strengthen core skills in areas like literacy, numeracy, ICT, and employability, as well as build social and resilience skills critical to both academic and personal success.
  • Act as a key point of support, referring students to appropriate internal and external resources when additional assistance is needed.
