Overview

Specialist Learning Support Assistant - Specialist College, Essex (travel required). Full-time | Part-time.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of complex learning difficulties, disabilities, or additional needs.
  • Support students in classroom, vocational, and community-based learning activities, helping to promote independence and confidence.
  • Assist with personal care and life skills development where required.
  • Encourage engagement and positive behaviour through effective strategies and pastoral support.
  • Liaise with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to ensure individual learning plans (ILPs) and EHCP outcomes are met.
  • Transport students (where required) and support them during off-site trips, work experience, and community visits.
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in an SEN or specialist learning environment (college, school, or care setting).
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach, with resilience and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build supportive and trusting relationships.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential for this role).
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
