Job summary

A consultancy specialized in public sector recruitment in Greater London is seeking a Learning & Development Officer to design and deliver training across various services. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Housing Benefit, excellent communication skills, and be highly organized. This role offers competitive hourly pay and is temporary for one month. Training delivery is primarily face-to-face, requiring a proactive approach and the ability to manage priorities effectively.

Job Title: Learning & Development Officer

Reference:122801 Hackney

Salary: £24.96 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution

Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday

Role length: 1 month opening assignment

Role

The role: You will design and deliver training across Benefits and Housing Needs, Customer Services and Revenues. Most delivery is face-to-face. The work covers systems training, legislation, policy, process and soft skills. The role sits within a high-performing service dealing with high demand, so you’ll need to work quickly, stay organised and manage shifting priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver in-person training sessions for staff at all levels.
  • Design and update course content to meet operational needs.
  • Identify training gaps through analysis and liaison with managers and teams.
  • Produce training materials covering NEC Housing, EDMS, IHMS, and wider service processes.
  • Evaluate learning outcomes and adapt content where needed.
  • Support continuous improvement across Benefits and Housing Needs.
Whatthe client is looking for
  • Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit and/or Homelessness Reduction and Prevention.
  • Clear communication, good customer service and solid time management.
  • Confident facilitator with excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to advise and influence staff at all levels.
  • Highly organised, proactive and comfortable working under pressure.
  • Technically competent, confident with Google applications, and quick to learn new systems.
Desirable
  • Proven experience designing and delivering training for the NEC Housing system.
  • Specialist understanding of EDMS and IHMS applications.
  • Innovative approach and interest in ongoing service improvement.
