Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Solutions Architect to own the design and evolution of our internal systems landscape. This role is about creating a seamless, scalable backbone for One Retail Group by ensuring our technology stack is integrated, reliable, and fit for the future. You will be the bridge between business needs and technical execution, architecting solutions that connect Business Central, our data platforms, and operational workflows into a cohesive whole.

This is not a team management role but a highly senior individual contributor position. You’ll partner closely with the Data team, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to map processes, assess requirements, and translate them into practical, sustainable solutions. You’ll also play a pivotal role in embedding Business Central at the heart of our business, ensuring integrations are robust, data is trusted, and workflows are optimised for speed and accuracy.

We are a business scaling fast and modernising many of our processes — so this is a role for someone who is both strategic in design and hands-on in delivery. You will identify bottlenecks, design integrations, and set technical standards that will allow us to grow without systems holding us back.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture and Systems Design

• Own the overall design of One Retail Group’s internal systems landscape, with Business Central at its core.
• Ensure all solutions are scalable, secure, and commercially pragmatic.
• Map business processes and design system workflows that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
• Continue to develop a robust central database on Fabric, taking information from multiple sources.

Integration and Automation

• Architect and deliver integrations between Business Central, our data warehouse, marketplaces, 3PLs, and other operational systems.
• Drive automation to reduce reliance on manual processes and improve speed of execution.
• Work with vendors and partners to design and implement APIs, middleware, and data flows.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

• Partner closely with the Data team to ensure reporting and analytics requirements are met through well-structured systems.
• Work with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain leaders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Act as the subject matter expert for Business Central and its integrations, supporting adoption across the business.

Governance and Best Practice

• Define and maintain architectural standards, documentation, and system governance processes.
• Ensure data integrity, compliance, and security are built into every solution.
• Continuously evaluate new tools and approaches that could improve efficiency, resilience, or scalability.

Ideal Candidate

• Deep experience designing and implementing solutions around Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Strong track record of delivering system integrations, preferably in a product-led, operationally complex business.
• Several years’ experience in Fabric, SQL, and Python
• Hands-on technical ability - comfortable mapping workflows, designing integrations, and overseeing technical delivery.
• Skilled at working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand problems and design practical solutions.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, reporting requirements, and system governance.
• Commercially sharp - balances robustness with speed and cost-effectiveness.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment where not everything is fully defined.
• A natural problem-solver who takes ownership, spots opportunities, and drives improvements proactively.
• Collaborative by nature but confident operating independently at a senior level.
• Strategic mindset to ensure development, implementations, updates and fixes are viewed with the long term in mind.
