Salary: £40,000 per annum - DOE (Depending On Experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8:15am-4:45pm, Friday 8:00am-2:00pm
Location: Barnsley

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business, recently supported by new ownership, who are looking to appoint a Manufacturing Management Accountant to strengthen their finance function during a period of growth.

This role would suit a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys working closely with production and operations within a hands-on manufacturing environment.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting production and manufacturing accounting activities
  • Standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis
  • Work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and revenue recognition
  • Inventory control, stock valuation, and material usage reporting
  • Month-end close, management accounts, and production cost reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Analysis of overhead absorption, labour efficiency, and machine utilisation
  • Working closely with production, engineering, and operations teams
  • Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards (UK GAAP); IFRS knowledge beneficial
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent experience
  • Manufacturing or metals engineering background preferred (fabrication, machining, job shop)
  • Strong understanding of production accounting and manufacturing finance
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems within a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modelling
  • Commercially minded with a strong attention to detail
  • Confident communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
  • Hands‑on approach with a genuine interest in shop‑floor processes
Structure & Progression
  • Role reports into senior leadership at site or director level
