Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join a team working on complex electromechanical systems for highly regulated markets. The role is hands-on and involves designing mechanical structures, rotating drives, and integrated control systems while ensuring all work meets industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Guide and support team members, helping them develop professionally.
  • Produce and update mechanical designs, assembly, and detailed drawings using company CAD tools.
  • Identify effective engineering solutions to tasks and projects, keeping work on schedule and aligned with standards.
  • Prepare documentation, datasheets, and designs to support costing, testing, and production.
  • Work closely with production, project management, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure engineering outputs meet overall objectives.
  • Monitor technical delivery, safety, and compliance, highlighting potential risks.
  • Attend design reviews and create technical reports as needed.
Required Experience and Skills
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, including producing complex drawings and models.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of working to standards in regulated or high-compliance environments.
  • Competent with MS Office applications.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or apprentices is desirable.
