Lead Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – USP College

You will work with experienced, innovative and inspiring teachers and learning support staff in a range of curriculum areas, giving you insight into the rewarding career of working with young people at a critical time in their career-focused development. The role is developmental and the successful candidate will be offered regular professional development to extend your skills and knowledge.

Applicants must have an empathetic approach and be able to work flexibly. You will be a good communicator, confident in supporting students to attain their learning outcomes and with the ability to develop a professional rapport with young people aged 16-24. You will have good academic credentials and be able to support learners from foundation level to adult access students. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop an effective relationship with parents in order to share information, alleviate anxiety and develop positive solutions to ensure young people\'s needs are met.
  • Deliver Education, Health and Care Plan annual reviews for a cohort of learners and ensure paperwork is returned in a timely manner; take the lead for pre-course interviews and enrolment for students with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
  • Monitor the provision of support and guidance for students experiencing learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Produce and maintain individual learning plans and liaise actively with teachers to identify and meet learning needs.
  • Support the ALS management function in the absence of the ALS manager on campus. Provide individualised learning support in the classroom and support centre for students with additional support needs.
  • Work closely with Teachers and ALS Manager to ensure that the support provided is appropriate and effective.
  • Assist in the implementation of a range of systems, processes and procedures relating to learning support.
  • Review and monitor quality processes to ensure SLAs are met, quality standards are maintained, and customer satisfaction is excellent.
  • Promote a positive attitude to wellbeing within the college and support Wellbeing initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Qualified to GCSE level 4 or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Good standard of general education.
