Job description

Unfortunately we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

This is a newly created position to become part of Eurofins Food Testing logistics team to be a key part of the transferring of samples between our sites in Scotland and England.

Please note this is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 08:00 till 16:30.

Responsibilities

• Make collections of food samples from customers around the UK returning them to the laboratory.
• Cover for the Logistics Planner where required overseeing the daily routes.
• Co-ordinates and communicates any last minute rota changes with drivers e.g. covering unplanned sickness.
• Ensure all paperwork is completed with a high degree of accuracy with recording of temperature and time records on a daily record sheet and reporting into the Logistics Management team.
• Ensure all information is inputted onto the company tablet where required.
• Ensure collections are returned to site safely and securely.
• To communicate on a regular basis with the other drivers making them aware of any delays to the meeting time or place (if required).
• The vehicle is to be parked overnight at the normal place of work and any off duty periods unless previously agreed otherwise with the management team.
• Drivers are responsible for carrying out daily and weekly vehicle checks oil water etc and reporting any defects in a timely manner to the logistics planners.
• Co-ordinate with agencies for cover drivers making sure other planners are aware.
• Co-ordinates any van changes with the other drivers along with the other planners.
• Assists the Logistics team with van issues helping get vehicles into / out of garages.
• Assist the Logistics planners with phone calls from other drivers with issues providing assistance where required.
• Assist the transport planners with out of hours issues.
• Suggest where improvements could be made on the planning of the routes.
• To provide assistance to the Logistics team with training of new drivers.
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care responding to customer emails and phone calls where required.
• Promote the Eurofins image by wearing a clean neat and tidy uniform as provided and by ensuring your vehicle is maintained in a clean tidy and serviceable condition.
• Drive Company vehicles in a safe and courteous fashion in accordance with the requirements of the Department of Transport and in compliance with the Highway Code.
• Take all reasonable action to ensure the safety and security of vehicles equipment goods fellow employees and other road users.
• Promotes the highest standard of Health & Safety reporting hazards to the Logistics Team

Qualifications

• Logistics and collection driving experience.
• Experience of chilled multi drop collection and deliveries working to strict timed deadlines
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
• Appreciation of vehicle maintenance and safety checks.
• A customer focused approach with pleasant demeanour.
• Full UK Driving License with a maximum of 6 points.
• Be computer literate and be prepared to spend time in the office helping out.
• Be willing to learn new roles / responsibilities as required by the Logistics team.
• Flexible to cover non-driving tasks or other duties where required.
