Overview

Are you an experienced physiologist ready to lead our cardiac physiology team at one of the UK's NHS Trusts? At Imperial College Healthcare, we deliver healthcare through research, education and training. We are inviting a senior physiologist to join our echocardiography department, IQIPS accredited, and to work at the Cardiac Investigation Unit – St Mary's Hospital.

You will work at the forefront of cardiac diagnostics, handling a full spectrum of investigations including 3D and strain analysis, paediatric TTE, cardio-oncology echo, and structural heart intervention TOE. With a large stress echocardiography program and physiologist-led valve clinics, you will have opportunities to push the field forward.

The role combines service development/management with clinical practice in echocardiography within the Cardiac Investigation Unit. There are strong opportunities for professional development, including support toward BSE accreditation and career progression.

Main duties of the job
  • To manage the provision of a community echocardiography service.
  • Provide diagnostic transthoracic echocardiography, Dobutamine stress echocardiography, and contrast bubble-studies to outpatients and inpatients.
  • Manage the community echocardiography physiologist/clinical scientist establishment and oversee training of junior staff and other healthcare professionals visiting the department.
  • Facilitate/participate in research projects in collaboration with cardiology consultants within the department.
  • Perform non-routine tests where necessary.
  • Ensure implementation of clinical governance, complaints, risk management processes and monitoring of compliance with standards and policies.
  • Act as the focal point for communication for the service and ensure effective communication to all stakeholders up and down the management structure.
