Job Purpose

To deliver excellent physiotherapy services to Academy players at Fleetwood Town Football Club, optimising performance, reducing injury risk and minimising recovery time.

Main Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
Leadership & Communication
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the Academy Head of Medical regarding all medical matters affecting Academy players.
  • Present concise updates and data relating to injured players in daily sports science and medicine meetings, and in weekly rehabilitation meetings.
  • Contribute to weekly injury reports, ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date and relevant to all staff.
  • Liaise closely with Sports Science and Medical staff to ensure the delivery of a cohesive and efficient service to players.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Deliver a high standard of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for all Academy players.
  • Review and provide expert opinion on the management of Academy injuries as requested by the Academy Head of Medical.
  • Lead rehabilitation programmes for injured players when required.
  • Plan and deliver gym-based return-to-play sessions in collaboration with Sports Science staff.
  • Attend all U18s or U21s home and away fixtures as required by the Academy Head of Medical.
  • Accompany players to medical appointments where necessary.
Administration
  • Maintain accurate and compliant clinical notes in accordance with HCPC regulations.
  • Complete relevant departmental administrative duties as required.
  • Liaise with the Club Secretary regarding whereabouts and absences of U18s and U21s players.
Knowledge & Clinical Skills
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current research in sports injuries and rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in assessing, diagnosing and treating sports injuries.
  • Possess strong understanding of rehabilitation methodologies and injury prevention strategies.
  • Continue to develop expertise in movement analysis and intervention techniques.
