We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join us as a Law and Business Teacher on a permanent, part-time (14 hours per week – scope for expansion of teaching hours as the provision grows) basis.

Start your teaching journey with us! We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post‑16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3–4 hours of delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between £28,300.00–£30,307.50. It’s a great way to kick‑start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you’ve successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you’ll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding. Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Certificate of education or PGCE
  • Current and valid industry specialism
  • Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation)
  • Minimum Level3 occupational qualification
  • English and maths minimum level2 GraceC or grade4 and above
  • Able to teach L2 foundation law modules such as Contract law, Civil Litigation, Mens Rea, Police Powers, and the English Legal System, as a priority
  • It would also be beneficial for the candidate to have a background in teaching bespoke elements of business, excluding accounts, at level2, such as leader and management, digital functional skills, and enterprise
  • Excellent digital skills to assist with the tracking of student achievement across all levels
  • The law provision is expanding so additional experience in teaching CLCL4 modules in conveyancing and/or probate will also be beneficial
