About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Laser Operator with the ability to run Mazak and Trumpf laser cutting machines to join our established engineering and sheet metal manufacturing team in Lytham St Annes. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a stable, respected business known for quality, precision, and customer satisfaction.

The position starts on a temporary basis with the strong potential to move into a permanent role for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Mazak and Trumpf laser cutting machines
  • Interpret engineering drawings, cutting lists, and job specifications
  • Adjust machine parameters, speeds, and feeds to ensure accurate cutting
  • Carry out basic machine maintenance and cleaning
  • Monitor machine performance, identifying and resolving issues during production
  • Inspect cut components for accuracy, quality, and adherence to tolerances
  • Optimise material usage and minimise waste
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace in line with 5S standards
Requirements
  • Proven experience operating Mazak and / or Trumpf laser cutting machines
  • Strong understanding of laser cutting processes and parameters
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of 5S and continuous improvement processes
  • Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently
