Position Title: Lab Pack Chemist
Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Lab Pack Chemist to join their environmental services team. This role is essential in ensuring proper identification, packaging, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Identify, categorize, and segregate hazardous and non-hazardous wastes for proper disposal.
- Perform lab packing of chemical wastes according to DOT, RCRA, EPA, and OSHA requirements.
- Prepare, package, and label drums, lab packs, and bulk containers for transportation.
- Operate company vehicles (CDL preferred) for transporting hazardous materials to approved disposal facilities.
- Complete all required manifests, labels, and documentation with accuracy.
- Conduct site audits for environmental compliance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to coordinate services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of DOT, RCRA, and EPA hazardous waste regulations.
- CDL Class B with Hazmat endorsement preferred.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
