Knowledge Lawyer - Construction Disputes | International Law Firm | City of London

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Knowledge Lawyer / Professional Support Lawyer to join a top-tier Construction Disputes team within a highly regarded UK and international law firm. This is a high-impact, senior knowledge role supporting a busy and market-facing disputes practice, ideal for a construction disputes lawyer looking to step away from fee-earning while remaining intellectually engaged, influential and closely connected to client work.

The Construction Disputes team advises on complex, high-value domestic and international disputes across the full spectrum of the construction and engineering sector. The Knowledge Lawyer will play a central role in shaping the team's legal capability, ensuring fee earners are supported with best‑class know‑how, precedents, training and market insight.

This role offers genuine visibility, autonomy and strategic input, working closely with partners and senior lawyers across the department. As Knowledge Lawyer, you will support the team across know‑how, training, innovation and business development, ensuring lawyers are equipped to deliver consistently high‑quality advice to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing and developing the team's construction disputes know‑how systems
  • Maintaining, reviewing and improving precedents, guidance notes and information banks
  • Monitoring legal and industry developments and circulating updates to the team
  • Drafting high‑quality legal updates and technical briefings
  • Acting as a sounding board for fee earners on technical and strategic issues
  • Reviewing and updating existing precedents and crib sheets
  • Drafting new precedents, flowcharts, house views and client‑facing guidance
  • Supporting the creation of client‑specific and sector‑focused materials
  • Supporting the design and delivery of internal and external training
  • Delivering training sessions on legal developments and know‑how usage
  • Contributing to webinars, videos and recorded content
  • Assisting with client alerts, briefings and public consultation responses
  • Supporting articles, seminars and thought leadership initiatives
  • Writing and editing content for the firm's website and external publications
  • Attending client events and supporting the firm's external profile
  • Providing research and client‑chargeable support when required
  • Assisting with cross‑border and multi‑jurisdictional knowledge projects
  • Supporting innovation initiatives, including the use of legal tech and AI
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years' PQE in contentious construction law
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction disputes
  • Excellent drafting and written communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of client drivers
  • Confidence working with partners and senior fee earners
  • An interest in innovation, legal tech and AI
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
