Job description
Overview

Knitwear Garment Technologist | £45,000 - £60,000 + Benefits | Premium Fashion

This role is all about creating premium, trend-led, chic product that feels as good as it looks. As the Garment Technologist, you need to bring together a love for detail, technical skill, and a curious, collaborative mindset to make sure every knit, stitch, and seam performs beautifully for this brand.

This role is all about combining technical expertise with creativity, working hand in hand with Design and Buying to develop premium, contemporary pieces that their customers truly connect with.

You\'ll be the go-to for all things fit, quality, and performance, helping to shape collections that are as refined as they are relevant.

And because knitwear is such a signature part of what this brand does, you\'ll need solid knitwear experience, understanding yarn behaviour, stitch structures, and the subtle art of achieving that perfect balance between style, comfort, and drape.

As The Garment Technologist You Will
  • Lead fit sessions with flair and precision, ensuring every garment not only fits beautifully but reflects the effortless, elevated aesthetic of the brand.
  • Spot and solve challenges early, assessing risk at concept stage and finding smart solutions before production begins.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to bring your technical vision to life - translating design ideas into well-constructed, wearable garments
  • Standardise key knit blocks to streamline fit consistency, speed up development, and refine silhouette accuracy.
  • Champion quality assurance throughout the critical path and ensuring premium standards at every step.
  • Approve all fabrics, yarns, and test reports, guaranteeing quality, performance, and feel are in line with expectations.
  • Oversee wash-care approvals, making sure every label reflects the garment\'s needs and the customer\'s lifestyle.
  • Keep data clean and precise, maintaining fibre content, measurements, and technical details within PLM systems.
  • Work closely with QC teams, reviewing performance feedback and making proactive adjustments to continually raise the bar.
  • Visit production and distribution sites regularly to connect directly with process, quality, and people.
  • Champion innovation and improvement, always asking, "How can we make this even better?" - from fit to finish, fabric to feel.
  • Host creative brainstorms with Technical, Design, and Buying teams to push ideas forward and strengthen standards.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships, giving constructive feedback and setting clear goals for growth and consistency.
  • Lead sustainable sourcing conversations, partnering with CSR, Buyers, and Designers to ensure ethical, responsible production that meets modern expectations.
  • Support and empower your team, combining encouragement, guidance, and accountability to deliver amazing results together.
What You\'ll Bring
  • At least 3 years\' experience and knitwear experience is non-negotiable. You live and breathe knits, from gauge and tension to handfeel and recovery.
  • A deep appreciation for premium, fashion-forward product, with an understanding of what makes something feel modern and chic
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle detail with big-picture thinking.
  • A collaborative mindset; you\'ll thrive in creative conversations and love being part of a team that builds something beautiful together.
  • Commercial awareness, technical confidence, and that all-important curiosity to keep learning, improving, and evolving.
